Millie's Irish Visit
Millie and Ron visited with one of Ron's relatives in Ireland. Of course, Millie noticed that the bed, as well as being closer to the floor than usual, was not square with the wall. So she asked Ron to move it, but he couldn't, even with her help. So Millie moved the bedroom rugs and found that the bed was concreted into the floor. Next morning she asked the lady of the house why the bed had been concreted into the floor, and why it was not square with the wall. The answer she received was very simple. The man of the house had been promising to fix the potholes in the bedroom floor for years, and one day the lady of the house screamed at him so long and loudly that he went out and bought the concrete mix, and agreed to concrete the floor while she was out. The man of the house, however, was not about to do an ounce more work than required, so he left the furniture where it was and concreted the floor around the furniture. By the time the lady of the house arrived back the deed was complete. Now here is the funny part. The lady of the house told Millie that it wasn't her husband's fault because she herself hadn't made it clear to him to move the furniture out. After this learning experience Ron's escapades never seemed that bad to Millie.
